I was wrong. Trump trumped.
In September I speculated that Kamala Harris had the potential to be the next president of the USA. Of course, this ended up not being the case. Where did I go wrong? I focused on the candidates and not the country.
Each country has a birth chart, just like you, and a nation celebrates a birthday each year too. If you’ve had an annual chart reading you may know that your vedic “birthday” is different to celebrating on the same calendar each year. Because Vedic astrology values the Moon as much as the Sun, your vedic “birthday” each year is when the angle between the father Sun and mother Moon replicates the exact moment of your birth. It can fall up to a few weeks on either side of your birth day as you currently know it. This is the basis of an annual chart reading, and also for a country’s election astrology as it turns out!
Birthdays are often reflection points – looking back and looking forward – setting your intentions and tone for the year ahead.
At first take, the incumbent, being the Democratic Party, looks strong. Virgo (6) is the rising sign and its lord Mercury goes to the “place of work” in its other home sign of Gemini (3). Mercury is the significator of speech and communication, showing a candidate who articulates well. It joins the Sun, which represents authority and government, which is also positive, however the Venus placement, which is being combusted by the Sun, turns out to be bothersome.
The opposition, being the Republicans, is represented by secretive Scorpio (8) which has two lords – Mars and Ketu. Mars represents war and action, and has a “win at all costs mentality”. It is strong in its other home of Aries (1) in a position associated with transformation and change. Ketu, as you will notice, is the planet that rises to the top of this chart.
Now let’s look at the voters. They are represented by Capricorn (10), lorded by Saturn. Saturn has strong ties to Mars as it is the planet that exalts Mars’ energy. In the chart Saturn is aspecting/influencing Mars, strengthening it even further.
Saturn and Venus are also friends, however burned up Venus is in no state to support Saturn and ends up representing the incumbent candidate departing.
It turns out that Mars and Ketu (the opposition) trump Mercury (the incumbent).
What is the relevance for you? An annual chart reading can bring some insights and navigation tools to your year ahead. It is best done within a month either side of your birthday.
